Vocational Experience
Rory is a Consultant Haematologist with experience in the diagnosis and management of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders. He has a special interest and particular expertise in lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL).
Rory gained his medical degree from the University of Auckland and is a Fellow of both the Royal Australian College of Physicians and Royal Australasian College of Pathologists. After completing specialist training in Auckland, he undertook a two-year fellowship in lymphoma and CLL at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.
Rory works as a Consultant Clinical and Laboratory Haematologist at Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Waitematā (North Shore and Waitakere hospitals). He is passionate about clinical research and medical advances in Haematology - Rory is active site principal investigator of several studies and has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in Haematology journals. He is an active member of the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group and Australasian Lymphoma Alliance. Rory is Deputy Chair of the Lymphoma Network of NZ, NZ Branch Secretary of the Haematology Society of Australia and NZ, and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland.
Rory strives to provide evidence-based, patient-centred, and compassionate care to people living with blood disorders. He is a clear communicator and has a friendly approach with his patients. Rory enjoys the teamwork required to provide excellent patient care.
